Action Environmental Group featured in new video at Global Green's 2011 Sustainable Design Awards in New York City 11.18.11

Global Green’s Coalition for Resource Recovery debuted a new video on its restaurant recycling pilot program on Monday November 14, 2011 at Global Green’s Sustainable Design Awards. Adam Pasquale, LEED Accredited Professional, of Action appeared on behalf of the company, The video can be seen in its entirety at http://www.thecorr.org/programs_food_packaging.php

The video highlights CORR’s vision is to eliminate the concept of waste so that the waste from one activity is food for another, benefitting the economy, people, and the environment. Closing the loop on materials reduces resource loss, energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions which cause climate change.

The video discusses the food packaging goal which is to recycle paper cups and foodservice packaging into valuable, high-quality materials. Every year, 4.1 million tons of paper, prepared food packaging is landfilled in the United States. The collection and recycling of this material would decrease greenhouse gas emissions by ~15 million mtCO2e, equivalent to removing 3 million passenger vehicles from the road.

Action is an original corporate partner of CORR. As part of this year’s awards and education program, on Tuesday November 15, 2011 Action’s Joe Burke was a featured speaker at the CORR Conference on Recovery of Paper and Plastic Foodservice Packaging, Food Waste, and Wholesale Packaging, In July 2011, Action’s CEO, Ron Bergamini spoke at CORR’s annual Commercial Food Waste Recovery Conference.
